Fruits like apples, blueberries, blackberries, grapefruit, and beans like peas, lentils, soya beans, green beans - and lots of dark green veggies. They are great low cal and high fiber foods. And low in glycemic load too.

Be Well!

Can you suggest more foods that fall under Low GI for Phase I. I don't need to lose weight, but I agree with your stance on eating foods that are low cal and high fiber. Thanks for helping!

An average apple has about 44 calories but most of it is water content (about 85%). Eating a fruit such as an apple before a meal is a smart way to keep weight under control because the water in the apple makes you full quickly. So you are less likely to overeat. A smart weight lost eating tip to try out. :O)

I was wondering why you said that apples have zero calories. As far as I know, they have about eighty calories each.

The video is not meant to be an exhaustive list of the world's healthiest foods. The colored fruits and vegetables like the blueberries that you mentioned are impressively loaded with antioxidants too.

As for the health benefits of soy or soya, there have been conflicting studies, both supporting and not supporting the consumption of soy. My personal take? Always eat in moderation, including the world's healthiest foods. Eat blueberries but don't eat a ton! Soy supplements are a no-no because that will be an over consumption of one single food. It's smarter to eat foods that are fresh and not processed as pills or tablets. That's my opinion. Best of Health!

Most weight loss teas tend to be diuretic. Drinking it for a prolonged period may do more harm than good. The great thing about Shitake Mushroom Tea is that it cleanses the internal body gently and naturally. Shitake Mushroom Tea is a popular beverage for Macrobiotic households. And it is not a weight loss tea but a healthy drink to keep the body in a cleansed and alkaline condition.

Never heard of the mushroom tea. Interesting ... I have only heard of Feiyan Tea which is known to be a weight loss tea. Likely because its a diruetic and also cleans you out. Maybe similar to the Mushroom tea you mentioned
