Looking for healthy eating and natural weight loss tips? The list below is a quick round-up of some of the healthy eating and natural weight loss resources featured on this blog. These are strictly, not diet plans but a new way of eating that promotes healthy, natural weight loss.

Low Glycemic Diet (low GI Diet) for Natural Weight Loss

Those who are successful in losing weight following the low glycemic diet  (also known as the glycemic index diet) choose their carbohydrates carefully. The diet advocates choosing mostly low GI carbs and some medium GI carbs. Whole grains, beans, fruits and vegetables feature prominently in a low glycemic diet.  Making sure your meal contains more low GI carbs ensures you have balanced blood sugar levels and not excessive food cravings which cause over eating.

Does the low glycemic diet work?

Overall, a yes.

You can get into shape and lose weight naturally if you choose quality carbs and the right combination of carbs.  However, it has some shortcomings as it  only measures carbohydrates – and it does not take into account other factors that may cause weight gain such as the amount of saturated fats and sugars found in foods, and the overall nutrient quality and quantity of food consumed.

The low glycemic diet works best when combined with regular exercise and portion control.

Intermittent Fasting – An Easy Way to Lose Weight Naturally?

Periodic Fasting For Weight Loss

Some natural weight loss experts believe that intermittent fasting or periodic fasting is good for the body. One variation of intermittent fasting is to go on a water fast for 24 hours once or twice a week. In other words, no food but only water for one day.

Provided you do not binge before and after the fast, short-tern intermittent fasting is an effective way to burn body fat. For permanent natural weight loss, make regular exercise and healthy eating part of your lifestyle.

Intermittent fasting is not recommended for children, pregnant women and those with compromised health conditions.

Raw Food Diet – Can It Help You Lose Weight Naturally?

Most of  the foods you eat under the raw food diet plan will be raw fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and sprouted grains. Fruit and vegetable juicing plays a big part in the raw food menu. Raw foodists believe that cooking destroys enzymes present in foods.

A raw food diet will definitely trigger natural weight loss as most of the raw foods are low in calories and saturated fats.

A raw food diet however, calls for a radical change in eating habits. Most raw foodists will choose organic produce to minmise ingesting too much pesticides and chemicals when foods are eaten raw and unprocessed.

Fortunately, you don’t have to be a 100% raw foodist to enjoy its health benefits. Give your normal diet a healthy boost by simply adding more raw foods (think of filling your plates with more fruits, vegetables and salads – but without the mayonnaise).
