PEOPLE are particular about how they look or what they wear, yet pay little or no attention to what they actually eat. The smart thing to do in order to lose weight fast is to clean up your diet and cut down or avoid the most unhealthy foods altogether.

Here are the five most unhealthy foods to remove from your diet if you want to lose weight fast:



1) Soda or Soft Drinks

Many people have a soda habit. They start the day with a can of coke or pepsi and finish their meals with a soda pop. That’s at least three sodas a day if you like a soda for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

What you may not know is that every can of soda is sweetened with 10 teaspoonfuls of sugar. Six to 12 tsp of sugar a day is within recommended limits. Three cans of soda adds 30 tsp of sugar to your diet which is way above the recommended limit.

Drinking that much of sugary drinks a day is not just very unhealthy, it adds a ton of calories and fat to your diet.

Drink plenty of water, green, black or herbal teas instead.

2) Fruit Juice

Fruit juice is often mistaken as a healthier alternative to soda pop but bear in mind that fruit juices are also full of sugar, more than eating the fruit itself. Fruit juice packs which we get from the supermarkets are sweetened and added preservatives. Drinking fruit juice with meals is most unhealthy as it spikes blood sugars.

3) Foods with Trans Fats

Foods high in trans fats are so easy to process that the body will make you want to eat more of it! But trans fats are one of the most unhealthy foods ever created in our modern diet. Trans fats are bad not only for our weight, it’s bad for our heart and health – yet we eat lots of them in our modern diet.

The supermarket list of unhealthy foods with high trans fats is staggering: margarine, cakes, cake mixes, French fries, cookies, popcorn, frozen foods, pies, potato chips, crackers, instant ramen cup noodles and many other commercially baked foods.

Lose weight fast by cutting down on processed and packaged foods and make sure you scrutinize the food labels for partially hydrogenated oils and vegetable shortenings.

The kids love sweetened white breads for breakfast and so do adults looking for a quick bite. Most fast-food burgers use white breads. But these nutritionally empty white breads are one of the most unhealthy foods and should be avoided if you want to lose weight fast.

White bread is made of refined grains and refined grains have little nutritional value as the germ and bran layer have been removed. The body digests white breads very quickly because they have so little fiber; leaving you hungry and craving for more.

If you want to lose weight fast, eat the coarser whole grain breads.

5) Deep Fried Foods

Deep fried foods are yummy but extremely high in calories and saturated fat.

Because most fried foods in fast food joints and restaurants are fried in poor quality oil that has been used repeatedly, eating deep fried foods can pose serious health threats as deep frying causes by-products that are carcinogenic.

To lose weight fast, remove all deep fried foods from your diet.

I am aware of what I eat every day and I make it a habit to remove the most unhealthy foods from my diet and eat the right foods . Occasionally, I indulge in my favorite comfort foods but I am careful to balance these foods which are usually high on the glycemic index with foods low on the glycemic index.
